We set out to discover ... Which are the classic varieties? Which country are they best represented by? Which appellation within that country best showcases the classic characters of that wine? ... We discovered three incredible vineyards...
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon
APPELLATION: Alexander Valley  |  VINEYARD: Lone Tree Vineyard
Forefathers Cabernet Sauvignon is grown on a 5.5 acre vineyard on a small knoll in the Alexander Valley. From this knoll we selected the east facing slope to avoid the hot afternoon temperatures that can lead to dehydration and elevated sugars. This knoll is east of the town of Geyserville and is comprised of a gravelly loam soil, which allows for good drainage, great exposure of the clusters due to the open canopy and long hang time. We get more power and weight from Lone Tree than the typical Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard.

Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc
APPELLATION: Marlborough  |  VINEYARD: Wax Eye Vineyard
This vineyard, located off Hawksbury Road in Marlborough, New Zealand, is our youngest vineyard. The glacial soils offer the vines good water retentivity and this glacial minerality often shows itself in the finished wine.
